Description

A great deal of research on gender, work and care has tended to focus Western, Educated, Industrialized, Rich, and Democratic (WEIRD) women. A situation that has failed to be inclusive of global efforts to promote gender equality and furthermore, devalues or excludes the experiences of the majority of working women. My lecture will discuss how The West and The Rest meet at the intersection of multiple social categories and contributes to women’s continued subordination in relation to care and work in a globalized economy.
