The lecture focuses on both the key structures of the global political economy and how it affects our everyday lives. The first part examines the changing structures of the global political economy and the organisation of key economic processes, especially that of global production networks. The second part looks in more detail at the 'financialization' of everyday life, starting with an analysis of the 2008 global financial crisis.
