You can use several of the library services from home by using your GU account. Via the library's website, you can:

Search for books and other documents in our catalog Supersearch; in this catalog, you can search for all materials (such as printed books, e-books, and articles) that you have access to as a student at the University of Gothenburg. The easiest way to use Supersearch is by searching on a title or an author (or a combination). In Supersearch you will get information on where the material is placed and you can also request or download it (depending on whether it is in printed or digital form).
Request and reserve material
The first step is to search for the material in Supersearch, then you can follow the instructions below (the film clip will get bigger and starts automatically when you click on it):

(1. Visit www.ub.gu.se/en 2. Search for the material in Supersearch 3. Click on the link "Request or reserve" below the title in your search result list 4. Log in to your student account 5. Click on "Request" if the item is available or on "Reserve" if the item is currently on loan 6. Choose the library that you want to pick up the material at 7. Click on "Continue" 8. Click on "Request")

You will receive a notification when your requested material is ready for pick up. You can then borrow the material with your GU card by using the borrowing machines at the library. On the library's website, you will find some practical borrow related information; e.g. information on loan periods, renewals, and overdue returns.

Renew your loans; it is your responsibility as a patron to keep track of when your loans expire. You can see your loans and renew them if you log in to My loans. Borrow and use e-books; on the library's website, you can find information about how to search for, borrow, and use e-books and also information about different e-book publisher's terms of use. Read and access articles; as a student at the University of Gothenburg, you have free access to all articles that are published in the journals and newspapers that the library is paying for. You can search for these articles in Supersearch or in a specific database which you will find sorted by subject on the library's website.
