In this lecture, the focus is on CAM practices such as Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), the Enneagram, Zhineng Qigong, OSHO and Tantra. The seminar encourages critical engagement with how these practices intersect with religious and spiritual movements and their implications for global health.

Task for the seminar
Groups will explore how new and emerging practices related to Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM), which often blend spirituality, folklore, and alternative healing, should be managed within the framework of global health governance. These practices represent cultural expressions that contrast with, yet often mimic, established Western medical approaches. Discuss the cultural, ethical, and governance challenges these emerging CAM practices present. Propose strategies for how global health governance can effectively integrate or regulate these practices, considering cultural sensitivity, health policy, and public health impacts. Groups will present their analysis and recommendations, followed by a class discussion on balancing the integration of CAM practices with maintaining standards in global health governance.
