Overview: This lecture gives an overview of "world-systems analysis" and also presents how it developed from earlier critical strands in global political economy. The lecture also compares it to it's "relative" "global systems analysis". By adopting this theoretical lense we can begin to reflect on hegemonic rise and decline, which will be brought to a more contemporary analysis in the subsequent lecture (same afternoon).
