Course Information

Welcome to PDG089 Educational Assessment!

This is an elective course that provides you with an introduction to educational assessment. With research forming the basis of the course, educational assessment is set in the frame of policies and social contexts. Assessment is also discussed within various national and international contexts. The course highlights questions about the interpretations and consequences of educational assessment at the individual and system level. Particular attention is given to the validity of different forms of assessment.

Content areas to be covered in this course include:

  • Assessment in the Swedish schools
  • Formative and summative assessment
  • Validity and reliability
  • Assessment of non-formal and informal learning
  • Formative feedback
  • Fairness and equity in assessment
  • International comparative assessments
