Course syllabus

The course is held between 25 March 2021 - 29 April 2021

Welcome to Global Studies: Key Concepts! This course introduces you to some of the main conceptual discussions and empirical inquiries surrounding issues of globalization. It combines insights from different disciplines including human ecology, peace and development studies and social anthropology. The concepts covered in the course can be used to analyze contemporary processes of globalization such as disembeddedness, homogenization, interconnectedness, mobility, mixing and reembeddedness. We will reflect critically on questions of how "the local" and "the global" relate to each other and how contemporary globalization affects life prospects, environments, gender relations, livelihoods, and conflict patterns in different parts of the globe.

Please read the information about the course structure.
