Welcome to the course GVK460 Biogeochemistry, 7.5 credits, vt21

Introduction

The course focuses on Biogeochemistry of terrestrial ecosystems, as the textbook indicates, but we will also look at global biogeochemical cycles. This year’s course will mainly be to distance teaching, but hopefully we will be able to conduct two physical activities.

Reading instructions:

The textbook is complemented by a chapter on microbial metabolism and global biogeochemical cycles. Some additional scientific papers will also be distributed. Those combined will be the subject of the written examination.

The course will have few traditional lectures, but will mainly be in the form of Flipped classroom, based on the chapters in the textbook (plus complementary articles). All students are expected to have read the chapter/article prior to the class. The respective chapter/papers for each day are provided in the schedule.
