Between Design and Architecture is a post degree course treating buildings, and more specifically dwellings, as assemblages of objects, components and consumer goods. The course seeks to understand and elaborate on how design acting within the realm domesticity and living environments can respond in a variety of ways to current and urgent social, economic and environmental issues.

The course suggests an open approach to architecture as a broad and diverse field of design in which the foundational relationship between producer and user is rethought, remodeled and prototyped while the consequences to the broader society is mapped.

The course is structured around two parts. The first being a collaborative ad-hoc and making-led research into our own household artifacts, taking the pandemic situation in account both for the sake of the contemporary relevance and for our limited means of reaching beyond the domestic sphere. The second part is an individual assignment addressing the findings of the first part to propose a new living situation in balance with our surroundings.

The teaching consists of a variety of individual tutoring, thematised seminar, lectures, workshops and guest speakers. Scheduled course meetings will occur approximately once every other week, however sometimes for more than two consecutive days at a time.
