Course syllabus

Welcome to 

Latin for Philosophers, 10 credits

During the first semester, students with a BA in Philosophy and no (or very little) prior knowledge of Latin take the course

AMP015: Latin for Philosophers.

The course will be taught by prof. Christina Thomsen Thörnqvist and runs parallel to three other courses during the first two thirds of the first semester. Each section will end with a written exam. Lesson plans with preparation notes will be circulated before the start of the course.

The lesson plan is simple: After a joint programme introduction on August 30th, the sessions will proceed as stated in the schedule found via the link below. At the sessions, the units of Moreland & Fleischer (see below) will be treated successively: Unit one at session one etc. All sessions will take place via Zoom. Zoom invitations will be sent out before the sessions.

A Zoom link for the introduction will be sent out to all students before August 30th.

Literature

For AMP015, students are required to make sure that they have access to the following title:

 Floyd L. Moreland and Rita M. Fleischer, Latin: An Intensive Course. University of California Press, 1977. ISBN: 978-0520031838.

In addition, the students will be expected to consult the following title online:

Students who wish to refresh their knowledge of basic grammatical terminology relevant for the study of the classical languages are recommended to consult the following title:
