Intensives

The MAFI11 H21 Practical Course is interwoven with the MAFI12 H21 Reflection Course, and will conducted through individual assignments, seminars, workshops and group discussions that are organised in what we call 'intensives', intensive weeks of study. Each 'intensive' revolves around a specific theoretical and practical proposition. Aside these intensives you will be asked to conduct individual learning.

During this course, existing film material, ones own and others, is processed and discussed, based on thematic and temporal aspects. Central to the course are: (1) Criticality in relation to societal and theoretical issues and propositions. What does it mean to use cinematic methods to explore those societal and theoretical issues and propositions? (2) Archive, the personal archive, and archiving of film material. The distinguishing and defining inquiries in and through cinema. (3) Distinguishing and defining inquiries in and through cinema in ones own practice, departing from your (continuous) making proces.

The course aims to develop competencies with moving images’ expressive possibilities. In addition, this course provides the structure for continued examination and reflection of one’s own artistic approach(es)
