"Exhibition as Mediating Practice'' is a course which aims to build knowledge and skills around the exhibition as a format for publishing design practice. During four weeks students will look at their potential role in making as well as part taking in exhibitions and curatorial contexts which explores the manifold material meanings in design.

Inherently, design is associated with exhibitions through the numerous biennials, expos, fairs and design weeks occurring around the globe at different scales. Most large wealthy cities have museums dedicated to design collections and curated design content. Independent galleries trade collectable iconic artifacts or work by contemporary designers. Unlike the art world, the exhibition context is often secondary to how design otherwise is acting within societies. But as the design role itself is evolving, the way it is exhibited is also changing. The narratives behind why design is exhibited becomes more and more diverse. In the course students will work to find themselves within the world of exhibition making and make good use of it while contributing to its purpose and form.

Seminar Series in Design studies
The course will be host to the design studies series that will run over the three courses during the spring. For schedule and activities see the module Seminar Series iin Design Studies: Re-configuring a Broken World.
