The course is given by the Institute of Medicine at Sahlgrenska Academy.

1. Course start

We will start on Monday, March 14th, 13:00-15:45 in room 7140B, House 7, Arvid Wallgrens backe.

2. Schedule

The course runs during week 11-13 (14 March - 3 April 2022) and will be conducted on-campus. The preliminary schedule is available at TimeEdit. We will inform you about any unforeseen changes via e-mail and update the TimeEdit schedule. Schedule along with planning the time for the course.

3. Examination

The course is assessed through mandatory homework assignments and computer exercises - these must be submitted via canvas by the date specified.

4. Canvas - the  learning platform

All course-related documents will be shared via Canvas.  If you have problems with Canvas, check for more information about Canvas at the Sahlgrenska Academy in Swedish and in English.

Rules regarding registration

If you find yourself unable to attend the course you need to inform the course leader and the course administrator as soon as possible and no later than one month ahead of the course start. Many courses have a waiting list and the next PhD-student in line needs to be informed of a possibility to attend the course. Also, if there are too few participants the course might need to be canceled.

Late cancellation and no show at the start of the course (without valid reason) could lead to an administrative fee (5 000 SKR*) charged to the PhD-student’s institute. This is in line with a decision by the Council of PhD studies (FUR). Cancellation without valid reason will be communicated, by the course leader, to the PhD-student’s supervisor and head of the institute at which the PhD-student is registered. *This does not apply to part I and II of the obligatory PhD-course. Cancellations at these courses are to be communicated to the course leader as soon as possible.

There is no specific book for the course but you are recommended to use one of the following :

• Medical statistics: A textbook for the health sciences by Campbell, Machin and Walters (all editions works)
• Praktisk statistik för medicin och hälsa by Jonas Björk (in Swedish)
