Information from your teacher

HDK- Steneby year 2, week 36 and 37 - 2022

Body: 3 p.

”Body”

Supervisors: Christina Skårud and Jessica Fleetwood.

In the beginning of the week we are going to work with Live modelling and drawing. When you work with live modelling and drawing your focus is mainly on the person/the model in front of you. But it is also about relating to your own body, your own experience, your physics and body memories and your presence.

When modelling you need to consider scale, proportions, distance, direction and the room around you and the model.

In the end of the firs week we will work with models of bodies in the room to investigate body and space relations, The model and the space. We are also going to investigate our senses, All our senses. For example, is it possible to draw what you can’t see, but only feel with your hands?

Lastly you will be given an individual assignment to present. Written body dictums will be your framework.

9.00 - 12.30, Bring 3 objects. Start with Material Manifesto

1.30 - 4.30 pm,  Still life drawing, Bring drawing pads and pencils!

MATERIAL MANIFESTO – a piece of work where your ambitions and directions are visible.
Bring three objects to the first session.
The three object that you bring should be of value for your professional work.
It should be things that’s inspire you, or things that is very important for you in your practical work. Things you can’t “live without”. It could be objects from nature, tools, material, music, books, whatever that is important for you. You will have 3 minutes to present them.

Assignment: Material manifesto

What do you want to do with your artistic future and how can you manifest this?
This assignment demand a personal approach. The 3 objects can be of help when you want to limit your area of approach. It is important that you make a personal point of departure, concerning material area and context.
You don’t need, though, to work in a special material, the material you use are of choice, but you have to emphasize the context of your future work and somehow relate your work to your area of material or/and technique.
This demonstration, of course, means how you think right now. You do not need to think about whether it is acceptable next year and the next ... think of dreams and objectives.

The assignment, has two big questions. What do you want to do with your artistic future and how can you manifest this. Try out your ideas, you have the right to fail!
