Course syllabus

Welcome to the course Advanced Environmental Methodology (ES2616), 15hp!

Dear students,

The course starts on the 1st  of November 2023 and ends on the 12th of January 2024

We will give the course on campus at the Dept of Biological and Environmental Sciences (BioEnv Dept; https://www.gu.se/biologi-miljovetenskap), Medicinaregatan 7B, 405 30 Gothenburg (in Natrium house).

New Hampshire Colors

The course teaches advanced methodologies applied to environmental sciences. These include methods and approaches:

i) to deal with contaminated areas,

ii) to assess the ecotoxicological risk of chemical pollution in water bodies,

iii) to assess global change effects on forests,

iv) life cycle analyses,  and

v) management and conservation of biodiversity.

In addition, the course provides tools and guidelines for the preparation of the final Master Thesis/Project.

The course includes lectures, computer exercises, literature tasks, and a preparatory study for your future examination master thesis with a focus on methodology. This preparatory work (Pilot study) is performed individually and reported both in written and oral form.

Teachers involved in the course come from academia and companies.

Final grades on the course will be based on the written exam (3 HEC), practical work (6 HEC), and the individual pilot study (6 HEC).

Once you've registered you will have access to the modules which contain course material. The course is group-work intensive. Great if you update your CANVAS profile with a photo of yourselves and your "name_surname" as an id user.

Looking forward to meeting you soon!
