Degree project (15.0 hec)

You continue your independent artistic project based on the project plan you presented during the course Master's Degree Project in Craft 1.

The implementation of your idea as well as your investigation of processes, materials and methods is in focus. You develop new and individual expressions in ceramic art, jewellery art or textile art. At the examination of the degree project you are expected to present a completed art work.

The examination of Degree project is carried out in a seminar closed to the public, with the student, examiner, professor and opponent. If a completion is requested - the completion will be examined at a later set date with the professor, examiner and student present.

Degree Report (7,5 hec)

Part A of the MA2 Degree Report is a critical research paper 2000 words in length. The writing must include academic references (Chicago style: notes & bibliography) that communicate the research that informs your studio practice. The report may include a variety of theoretical, contextual and technical sources. Remember that images of your own work (including sketches and plans) as well as the work of others can also be an effective form of communication. A list of references should be included at the end of the critical research paper.

Part B of the MA2 Degree Report has, in comparison with Part A, the character of a personal statement, telling about the concrete processes leading up to the finished examination work. You can use parts of your diary during the work, or other activities that you feel are relevant for your way of thinking. You are meant to write in your own personal voice, finding concrete or poetic correspondences that bring forth what you want to say, as well as writing about the artists you are influenced by and the wider context that explains the choices you have made. But in the end part A and part B are meant to work together as a whole. The length of part B should be around 2000 words, including a proper reference list.

Communication, Profiling, Identity (7,5 hec)

You identify and evaluate possible future contexts to work within and develops forms for profiling your artistic work. This forms the basis for planning of how the degree project shall be displayed and communicated in a public context. Within the framework of a degree exhibition, you present your degree project with descriptive texts and visual material.
