Welcome to Language in Practice (SPL250)!
The Faculty of Humanities together with the Student union have developed a module in Canvas explaining about the grounds for discrimination and gives contact details for equal treatment representatives at every department that you may contact. You find this information under the heading "Modules" to the left on this page.
Introduction
The course SPL250 Language in Practice consists of 12 credits of internship and 3 credits of written and oral assignments, all in all 15 higher education credits.
The internship is language related, i.e. an internship where you practice your language skills at a workplace. Your tasks can vary, communication, customer focused, proofreading, translation, and many other language related tasks.
The internship should be eight weeks full time work and be placed weeks 36-50 (September to December) for the autumn term and weeks 5-20 (February to May) for spring term. Should the internship period be prolonged it must still be within the time frame of the term, and you may need to arrange a private insurance for the internship period beyond the eight weeks. If the internship is done part-time the internship period is prolonged accordingly. During the internship period you are expected to follow the ordinary working times of the workplace, unless you agreed otherwise. You should have time for your assignments also during working hours.
Besides the internship the course includes a number of written and oral assignment that are part of the assessment. The final assessment seminar will be at the end of the course.
