Dear all,
Warm welcome to the Nordic master´s Program in Sustainable Production and Utilization of Marine Bioresources.
and the Introductory course: Introduction to Sustainable Production and Utilization of Marine Bioresources fall 2023.
The course, as the entire Masters programme, is a collaboration between three different Nordic Universities:
University of Gothenburg, Nord University, Bodö, and Holar University
The MAR-BIO mandatory, introductory course will cover an introduction to inter- and transdisciplinary approaches to aquaculture as well as the interactions between fisheries, aquaculture and the production and utilization of marine bio-resources including entrepreneurship.
The course will introduce the students for possible future job opportunities, as PhD students, within the industry or the public sector, within the area of circular bio-economy and blue growth.
This introductory course is a “hybrid” course, with means that it contains a mixture of internet-based and campus-based sections. It is organized in three Modules each constituting one internet based section (1-2 weeks long) with live streamed lectures, recorded lectures, on line exercises and discussion, reading material etc. and one campus based section (4-5 days long) where all students and several of the teachers meet for on-site presentations by researchers and stakeholders, discussions, group works and study visits, at each of the three partner universities.
The campus based sections will be held at Nord University in Bodö, Norway, University of Holar, in Holar, Iceland and at the University of Gothenburg, campus Göteborg and/or the marine research stations at Tjärnö and/or Kristineberg, Sweden. This means that you need to travel to two countries, apart from the country of your host university, during the course.
To aid in this, the Nordic Masters program offer all students the possibility to apply for travel stipends for the travel to the campus sections that are in the other two countries, apart from the country of your host university.
Course syllabi:
MABI01 at University of Gothenburg
BIO5003 at Nord University, Bodø
