This section will introduce you to the main pillars for successful intensification of finfish aquaculture production. Developments in the Norwegian salmonid farming industry will be used as a model because innovation and new production technologies have resulted in a highly efficient production.

The section will also introduce you to the value of breeding programs, preventive fish health, development of efficient production technology, water quality, development in feed technology and fish nutrition and harvesting / slaughtering of fish.

This sections constitutes 7 lectures divided up in two parts over two days (Monday and Tuesday September 5th and 6th) with on line Zoom discussions related to them:

In some instances, you will find a file with questions for discussion regarding the lecture material.

You should use the time frame indicated in the detailed schedule to self studies, looking through the lectures mentioned for this specific time frame and you should also look at the reading material. Due to time difference with Iceland, students from Holar University could watch the recorded lectures on Tuesday Sept 6th and Thursday Sept 8th at their best convenience, before the on-line discussion.
