Welcome to the course: MARINE PROJECT FROM IDEA TO REALIZATION

Course start: Monday 28 August 10:15 in Natrium. This first meet and greet provides important information on the course, requirements, plans and getting to know who we all are in the course - both teachers and students. Make sure to communicate to the course leader if you are unable to join us. 

Course information

Marine Project From Idea to Realization is the first course on the marine Masters program and focuses on transferable skills needed to undertake a research project in marine sciences.  This includes experimental design, fieldwork, data handling and plotting, multivariate statistics, project management and finally written and oral dissemination of results. Teaching involves lectures and workshops on specific topics, followed by problem based group assignments. The main group assignments involve a practical project in the field, where students plan and execute a ship-based (on the new RV Skagerak) sampling program to address relevant research questions.

Schedule - the  preliminary schedule can be found here, it is subject to change here and there, especially as we settle into a new building in August and understand the new setup for lecture time slots and locations.

The field work days are currently planned for 5-7 September. You are required to be available to go to sea on one of these days.

This is a full time course and you are expected to work on your assignments during the time not allocated on the schedule in order to reach the learning objectives.

Literature - The course does not have a course book. Materials will be distributed by the lecturers through this platform (Canvas).
