Course syllabus
Welcome to BIO090: Biodiversity in Western Sweden!
In the course you will learn the basics of biodiversity. Some of the questions we'll answer are: What is biodiversity? How do we measure it? Why is it threatened, and by what? and How can we conserve it? During the course we hope you'll come up with many of your own questions around biodiversity as well, and we can dig deeper into the wonderful natural world around us - wherever you are!
During this course, we will use local examples from around Western Sweden, alongside local and global research that is ongoing in Western Sweden at the Gothenburg Global Biodiversity Centre. We'll get to meet people working with biodiversity around the region and see how they are trying to slow the global decline, and bring species back from the brink of extinction. We'll also have lectures and workshops, and much more. To round it off, we'll meet several times a week to discuss in groups about core topics, bringing in perspectives from international researchers and conservationists.
We're looking forward to seeing you this summer!
