Welcome to the course:

HPA101-Teaching and learning in higher education as a scientific field, 7,5 credits

The course is fully online on Zoom and starts Thursday, January 18, from 13.00 to 15.00, with a course introduction and an overview of the research field of higher education.

The course is conducted in English, delivered online via Zoom (and operates on a half-time basis. It involves reviewing literature, attending lectures and seminars, and completing individual and group assignments as part of the course requirements.

  • In the first Module, "Course information" you will find the course syllabus, the reading list, the schedule, the examination assignment, the course policy regarding the use of generative AI tools etc. 
  • The following Modules represent the course seminars and the course workshops, where slides from the lectures and other material will be added along the course.  
  • Current course information and possible changes will be continuously posted under Announcements.

Course content

In this course, you will delve into the specialization of teaching and learning in higher education, recognizing its status as a rapidly growing field of scientific research and development. You will explore both possibilities and challenges, addressing institutional conditions, forms and functions relevant to adult learning in higher education. The course covers theoretical and methodological foundations in research about higher education.

Additionally, related to your research field and research interest, you will discuss current issues within the field and critically examine various perspectives on higher education and their implications.
