Course syllabus
Welcome to HPA201: Research methods in teaching and learning in higher education (15 HEC), spring term 2024
The course is fully online and starts Thursday January 25, 15.00-18.00, with a course introduction and an introduction to the research field of higher education. Information about reading and preparation for the first meeting will be announced later.

Thursday May 30, 15.00-18.00 Individual examination
The course runs half-time, which means that you are expected to study 20 hours per week, including attending to lectures/seminars, and completing individual and group assignments as part of the course requirements.
Course content
The course focuses on introducing relevant methodological procedures in the research field of higher education. The relevance and possibilities and limitations for research of the various approaches will be highlighted. The course aims at developing students’ understanding of how research problems in the research field of higher education can be formulated, planned, carried out and evaluated. The course will address the potentials of qualitative and quantitative for the production and analysis of data in higher education research.
