Hello and welcome to the freestanding course Writing and Publishing in Contemporary Art which runs during the fall 2024 and spring 2025. This is a 30 credit advanced level course which is structured through four interconnected modules with the aim of providing you with a diverse and in-depth knowledge on the topic.

My name is Dr. Cathryn Klasto and I am the course manager for this course. The course itself is taught by a number of different people to give you many perspectives and experiences. While I do teach some sessions in the course, my key role is to make sure the course runs smoothly, so if you have any queries, issues or questions please reach out to me at cathryn.klasto@gu.se

The course is taught entirely at distance, in English, on zoom. Please make sure you have downloaded zoom and have a good pair of headphones for use during class. For those unfamiliar with zoom as a platform please find more information on the GU student portal here. We will also be using the digital platform Miro - please do sign up for a free account before the course begins - I will do a brief intro session to the platform during the first class, but if you can have a practice beforehand that would be very helpful! Padlet is another platform which is used as a database for the course, you do not need to have a profile to view the database but you will if you want to instigate/join discussions, comment and post.

The main pages I will use on canvas is the Modules tab which you can see on the left hand side of this page. When you click on Modules, you will see all the information you need for the course - please do take some time reading through those pages. Each week we meet (Sweden typically uses Calendar weeks to structure the year, not dates) has its own page, and there you will find the zoom link, the topic of the week, and the preparation requirements. For our first meeting, click on the Week 36 page! During the first meeting, I will talk you through the other pages on Canvas.

I look forward to having you in the class and creating a productive and rich learning environment together!
