SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE:

In this course, I will show how to use Python for data analysis. Python is the most common analysis tool in my field (atmospheric science) and it is great since it is completely free and there are many many resources available online. In this, you may work on your own computers, on computers in the student computer labs, or both.  I run Python via the Anaconda Navigator. Here are the instructions on how to install it on your own laptop. You can use it via Spyder or Jupyter notebooks, but the exercises will mainly be in jupyter notebooks so it makes sense to use jupyter notebooks throughout the course.  You can also use jupyter notebooks in google colab, then you don't need to instal anything. I do not know yet what will be installed on the computers in the student labs in Natrium but it will be definitely possible to use Jupyter notebooks. I assume most of you have your own laptops, but we will make sure there is an option in case you don't. If you want to use your own laptop, you can install python and the basic libraries (numpy, pandas, matplotlib, and scipy) before the first lab session on Wednesday.
