Course Syllabus
Welcome to the Research Methods in Conservation 2025
The aim of the course is to introduce students to different methods of research, from literature review, scientific methods, social science methods and finally narrative or research and presentation. We will discuss research in conservation, formulating research questions, drafting research plans and explore ethics related to certain types of methods.
The course provides students with the knowledge and skills required to independently carry out research tasks and present results. The course includes a wide spectrum of different qualitative and quantitative research methods. Thereby students should be able to understand, critically evaluate and plan a research assignment and decide how research results can be disseminated. Special emphasis is placed on preparing the student for the degree project. Different types of skills are developed so students can formulate research questions; critically evaluate literature; select appropriate methods; apply of ethics in research; collect, analyse and interpret information and data, and communicate results.
