Course syllabus

Welcome to the second year of the Embedded Design Master! 

We hope you have had a nice summer and that you are looking forward to exploring embedded design further in this course Engaging in an embedded design practice (EMD31A).

 

The first couple of days of the semester are scheduled accordingly;

Monday September 02

09:00-12:00 Course introduction in room 310. Here we will also introduce you to the course Preparation for an independent in-depth study in design (EMD32A), which run in parallel.

13:00-16:ish Joint gathering with program teachers and 1st year students. Room 619

 

Tuesday September 03

09:00-12:00 Introduction to writing a project brief in room 206B. The project brief aims to support in planning your design project. The format of self initiated project brief will follow through to the final degree project.

13:00-16:ish Wee meet in room 310 to openly discuss early project ideas, ideas for possible partners and your aims for this semester. Please bring images, sketches or similar from earlier projects (e.g. from your 1st year in Embedded design), as we will start the conversation from what you have done previously, to see where you want to go and how you want develop this second year in Embedded design.

 

Wednesday September 4

09:00-12:00 Inspirational talk with Haris Kadic, service designer at Kungsbaka municipality Inga Kiskytte, Chief Service Designer Volvo CE. Room 505.

17:15 Optional opportunity: Don´t miss the Alumni Design lecture with Åsa Jungelius at the university building in Vasaparken. Attending this event requires registration; here.

 

Friday September 6

Notify Helena about group constellations or individual work by 5pm.

 

General course info

Get acquainted with the course plan. Which can be found by searching for the course code (EMD31A) at the studentportal. Particularly study the learning outcomes, as these are used as basis for grading.

- The literature list can also be found via the course code on the student portal. You will also find it here on canvas, under the module called 'About the course'.

-We will use the Canvas Calendar for this course. You can, as before also find the schedule by searching on the course name or course code in TimeEdit. Keep in mind that the TimeEdit version is not updated regularly and that the calendar in Canvas contains more information. Also, note that the course schedule is preliminary up to two weeks before the course starts!

Register for your courses

Don´t forget to register for the course i Ladok services.  Registration opens one week before the start of course. You must also be registered to be able access all course material published in Canvas.
