Course Syllabus
Welcome to the course HPA103 Learning, instruction and digitalisation in Higher Education, 7,5 credits
This course meets online in Zoom and the link to the sessions is provided in the modules.
The course starts Wednesday, 4 September at 9:00am to 12:00. This session includes an introduction to the course and a lecture providing an overview of the development of digitalization in higher education as a research field. You can check out the module for the first session by clicking this link. Please note that the preparations for the first session include reading some of the course literature. We also ask you to contribute a brief description of your educational/professional background and your interest in the course, and prepare to present yourself orally during the first session.

4 September, 9:00am to 12:00: Course introduction and seminar on the development of digitalization in higher education as a research field.
12 September, 10:00am to 12:00 Bridging Higher Education and Work: Simulation and interdisciplinary training in higher education
20 September 9:00am to 12:00: AI in higher education, and presentations of individual study cases
24 September, 10:30am to 12:00: AI and examination, webinar within the EDUCERE Nordic network
3 October, 10:00am to 15:00pm: Instructional approaches (inclusivity & sustainability), followed by workshop on individual cases
16 October, 10:00am-12:00: Individual assignment workshop
18 October, 12:00 NOTE: Last day to register for the final examination on 23 October and deadline for submission of examination material.
23 October, 9.00 am-4:00pm: Examination
29 November, 3:00pm. Submission for re-examination 1, on 4 December 10:00am-12:00
4 December, 10:00am-12:00: Re-examination 1
7 January 2025, 3:00pm. Submission for re-examination 2, on 13 January
13 January 2025, 10:00am-12:00: Re-examination 2
The course is conducted in English, delivered online via Zoom, and operates on a half-time basis. It involves attending activities, identifying and working with an individual case step by step throughout the course, engaging with literature and completing a written and oral assignment as part of the course requirements.

Course content
The overarching aim of the course is to introduce scientific knowledge regarding digitalization of higher education with a focus on what conditions this brings to teaching and learning. The course targets both theoretical perspectives on, and practical consequences of, learning and development of knowledge. The course includes studying, analyzing and discussing how digitalization influences, and conditions, students and teachers in higher education. Central challenges and possibilities that digitilization of higher education imply are problematized, and current issues and implications will be explored and presented.
