Course syllabus

Welcome to the course EU1141 Democracy and the European Union, 7,5 credits, Spring 2025!

This course is given as a single subject course in European Studies. 

Course period: - 1

 

Introduction

The course starts with an introduction on 27 March from 9:15 to 10:00 in lecture hall D143. The introduction is followed by two lectures from 10:15-12:00 and 13:15-15:00 on the same day (see schedule below)

  • You need to register online in Ladok between 20 and 22 March. More information about registration can be found here.

  • Preparatory reading: Previous years, students have found it helpful to have some preparatory reading for those not well acquainted with the EU. To meet this request, we suggest you read the following before the course to be better prepared. This text is also the required reading for the first lecture: Chapters 2-4 in El-Agraa, Ali M. The European Union: Economics and Policies. Cambridge University Press, 2011. Available here and at the University Library.

Find your way on Canvas

Once you are registered, you can log in to Canvas and find more information about the course. The teachers will upload recommended readings, exercises, lecture slides and other useful documents or materials under “Modules”. Canvas is also where you submit assignments. There is a folder for each submission.

Study Support

Students with documented disabilities, including mental health conditions, can apply for study support.
