Course overview
This course examines important issues in financial management with focus on investment and financing decisions under risk. The course covers topics such as cost of capital, capital structure, dividend policy, capital budgeting and the pricing of financial instruments and corporate liabilities.

Course details
The intermediate course in finance is part of the Bachelor’s Programme in Business and Economics during semester 4 for students majoring in financial economics. It is also offered as a freestanding course, and is open to exchange students.
Course dates: 2 May to 8 June 2025
Course registration in Ladok opens on 19 April. Registration is required for programme students and students on freestanding course. Please register for the course as soon as possible.
Schedule EFI242 (preliminary until 14 days prior to course start)
Participation in Sustainability Day – Responsibility on 8 May is mandatory for students on the Bachelor´s Programme in Business and Economics. More information regarding the day will follow.
Assessment
The learning outcomes of the course are assessed through a paper-based written exam and case work. Programme students are required to attend Sustainability Day - Responsibility (does not apply to exchange students or students on freestanding course).

Permitted aids for the exam
There will be no traditional formula sheet. Instead you are encouraged to bring the following to the exam:
- The two probability data tables posted on Canvas.
- One sheet (A4) with writings on both sides for formulas and minor notes. This note should be handwritten.
For the exam the following are allowed:
- A non-programmable calculator
- A dictionary
