Course syllabus
Dear all, welcome to the course Global Studies: Key Concepts!
The course is held during the second part of the spring semester, from 27 March until 2 June 2025, at Campus Linné. The course comprises 8 lectures and 5 seminars and ends with a take-home exam consisting of a 2000-words essay.
Attending seminars 2, 3, 4, and 5 and uploading the preparatory assignments for each seminar is mandatory. Exceptions are only made in case of serious personal circumstances that must be communicated to the coordinator prior to the start of the seminar. Absence leads to extra assignments.
Seminar 1 on academic reading and writing is not mandatory but highly recommended, as it will help you prepare for the seminar assignments and take-home exam. Especially if you are uncertain about how to approach reading and writing academic texts, you are strongly encouraged to attend.
Descriptions and literature for each class can be found under 'Modules' > 'Course Content and Structure'. Each class's PowerPoint slides will be uploaded there shortly before the class starts and can also be found under 'Files'.
Please read through all the information under 'Modules' before the first class.
Keep in mind that:
- Active class preparation and participation is expected in all university education and will make it more worthwhile for you, your peers and the teacher.
- We are all responsible for creating a pleasant and educational environment where we can learn together and test our ideas. The ground rule for all classes is to always use respectful language toward your peers and teachers, respect each other's perspectives, and allow space for everyone to speak.
