Course syllabus


Course overview

The course consists of two parts: Financial Management and Industrial Management. The focus of the course is on decision making, based on quantitative methods. This is especially relevant regarding efficient use of resources and value creating in firms and other organisations. Basic quantitative methods and models for decision making in the field of industrial and financial management are used. 

The financial management part covers the quantitative methods and models for capital budgeting and corporate finance. The industrial management part covers quantitative methods and models in operations and supply chain management.

Course details

Industrial and Financial Management is part of the Bachelor’s Programme in Business and Economics during semester 4 for students majoring in business administration. It is also open for exchange students.

Course dates: 20 January to 26 March 2025

Course registration in Ladok opens on 13 January. Registration is required for programme students. Please register for the course as soon as possible.

Assessment

The learning outcomes of the course are assessed through exams and case assignments. There are two separate exams, one for each part of the course. It's necessary to pass both exams in order to pass the whole course.

Permitted aids

The Desmos Scientific Calcuator will be embedded in DISA.  In addition, you may bring any kind of hand-held calculator that is not able to connect to the internet (you are not allowed to use the calculator on your phone or any other similar device). You are also allowed to bring an English-Swedish (or other native language) dictionary.
