Welcome to the Global Health Master's Program!

Welcome also to the Master's program in global health and the first course of the program MGH101 Global health challenges in an interdisciplinary context at the University of Gothenburg.

The course will begin on September 1 and ends on November 4, 2025 (see schedule, assignments, literature list etc to the left under 'Modules'). It focuses on how the social, economic and biomedical determinants of global health challenges can be understood, prevented and addressed. Apart from readings and lectures, the course consists of practical workshops, individual writings, seminars with oral presentations and peer feedback. 

This platform for your studies, Canvas, will be updated and kept as the main source and forum for information throughout your studies, so please keep attention to what's communicated here!

Examinations

The course includes two types of examinations: (a) individually written theme papers (1, 2a and 2b), and (b) in-class digital hall exams (DISA exam 1 and 2). The digital DISA exams are held on Friday 26 September 08:30 - 11:30 and Thursday 30 October 08:00 - 11:00. Disability support and examinations

If you have a disability that affects your studies, you can apply for a NAIS certificate. If you have a NAIS certificate, you can then apply for adapted examinations. More information can be found at the Student Portal:  https://studentportal.gu.se/en/service-and-support/disability-study-support?f_sa=1

To apply for an adapted examination at the Institute of medicine, follow these steps: 

  1. Submit your application along with your NAIS decision no later than 4 weeks before the examination date. You can find the application form here
  2. If you are applying for multiple examinations, use a separate form for each application. 
  3. You can submit the form in person, via regular mail or via email, to the course administrator.

Information about examination adaptations may contain sensitive personal data. The University of Gothenburg recommends that you submit your application in person or by regular mail, but you can also send it via email. Subsequent communication will be in accordance with GDPR, and all documentation will be securely stored for the intended purpose.
