MGH302 Health promotion and disease prevention in at risk groups; strategies and methods, HT25, 15 HP
The course is due between 5 November 2025 - 18 January 2026
Welcome to MGH302!
This course is part of the Master of Global Health programme. It will give students knowledge in health promotion and disease prevention and community-based work using participatory approaches to create social and behavioural change, both on the individual and community levels. Perspectives from health promotion, disease prevention, social work, psychology, and the study of religion will be used to understand health behaviour and to create possibilities for sustainable health improvements. Central to this course is a field study where students will use a bottom-up approach and theoretical and practical knowledge, they have gained throughout the programme to design local health promotion projects/interventions.
A large part of this course consists of field work. Although there are few scheduled lectures during this part, students need to count on being busy with field work and supervision locally in Gothenburg.
